This PhD position is offered by Inria Rennes - Bretagne Atlantique Centre, part of the French national institute for digital science and technology.
The research lies at the intersection of virtual reality, 3D interaction, and immersive metaverse‑type environments, contributing to a large‑scale national project on digital twins of territories.
Responsibilities
- Perform a comprehensive state‑of‑the‑art review on perception and interaction in VR through avatars.
- Design new 3D interaction techniques enabling exploration of a digital twin via an avatar in VR.
- Design and execute user studies to evaluate interaction effectiveness, avatar influence on perception, and overall user experience.
- Conduct statistical analysis of experimental data and model observed effects.
- Write and submit scientific articles to international conferences and journals.
- Present results at conferences, workshops, and seminars; participate in team activities.
Required Skills
- Master of Science (or equivalent) in Computer Science, visualization, virtual reality, or computer graphics.
- Strong programming skills in C/C++/C# and experience with Unity.
- Motivation for human perception or neuroscience research.
