The Tsung-Megason lab at Harvard Medical School invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow in Systems Biology. The lab’s research centers on developmental systems biology, employing zebrafish to uncover the genetic and cellular mechanisms that govern embryogenesis, organ formation, and behavior. The fellow will join a dynamic team integrating genetics, imaging, genomics, and computational modeling to address fundamental questions in vertebrate development.
The appointed fellow is expected to develop an independent research project aligned with the lab’s themes, while also contributing to ongoing projects. Responsibilities include performing bench‑based experiments (e.g., CRISPR mutagenesis, transgenic line generation, immunohistochemistry), conducting computational analyses (e.g., single‑cell RNA‑seq, image processing), and assisting with manuscript preparation and grant writing. The fellow will also be encouraged to apply for external fellowships to support their research.
Beyond research, the position involves academic service: participating in lab meetings, journal clubs, and seminars; providing mentorship to graduate and undergraduate students; and assisting with teaching duties as needed. The lab emphasizes a collaborative and inclusive atmosphere, encouraging interdisciplinary dialogue and skill sharing among members.
Harvard Medical School offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and access to university resources. The salary range for this postdoctoral fellowship is $72,000–$77,500 per year, adjusted according to years post‑PhD. The appointment is initially for one year, with the possibility of extension based on performance, funding availability, and mutual agreement.
Applicants must submit a CV, a summary of their PhD research, a cover letter outlining their interest in the lab and proposed research directions, and contact information for three referees through the ARIeS portal. Review of applications begins on the deadline date (August 1, 2026), and shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews that include a research presentation. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2026, with some flexibility.
